THE A21 CAMPAIGN - OCTOBER 2009 UPDATE
// WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS MONTH
What an amazing month we have just seen at A21! Last week we had to buy
another bed for our shelter to accommodate newly rescued girls, and we
are now at complete capacity!
One of the girls in our care, Nadia*, has been reading Chris' book "A
Life Unleashed", and she told us that it has given her a new perspective
in overcoming her past and not letting go of the dreams that are still
in her heart. She told us that she wants to be a nurse one day - the
"best nurse" - and we told her that we would love to help her see that
dream come true. Together with our supporters and people like you, we
are making it possible for girls to escape a nightmare and awaken the
dreams that have been buried deep in their heart!
In this last month we have seen extraordinary breakthroughs as doors of
opportunity to help rescue and restore victims of human trafficking
continue to open. One of these open doors has allowed us to work closely
with the police and provide them with assistance in translating for
newly rescued girls. As many of the girls do not speak Greek, this is a
great help for the police and an incredible opportunity for us as we are
now able to be some of the first faces these girls encounter after being
set free.
Because our shelter is currently at capacity, and due to the
overwhelming need to open a long-stay restoration home, we have been
conducting feasibility studies to expand our work into Bulgaria and the
Ukraine. Funding for these endeavours is one of our greatest needs at
the moment, as well as wisdom for establishing the right relationships,
and discernment in identifying corruption and ill intent as we expand
into new territory. Your unrelenting support plays such a vital role as
we continue to take new ground in our fight against trafficking.
Together, we are truly seeing unprecedented battles won, and we are not
only making a difference - we are making history.
